Rise2Tokyo: Iran's Alamian earn Tokyo ticket; Achanta-Batra secure mixed doubles berth

DOHA (Qatar): Iranian No.4 seed Nima Alamian qualified from the Central Asia after he defeated Uzbekistan's Zokhid Kenjaev 8-11, 7-11, 11-4, 11-4, 13-11, 11-7 in the men's singles final of Asian Olympic Qualification Tournament here on Saturday.


The three-day tournament was organised by the Qatar Table Tennis Association at Ali Bin Hamad Al Attiyah Arena.


In the men's singles final of South East Asia group, No.3 seed Clarence Chew of Singapore beat compatriot Pang Yew En Koen (11-7, 11-7, 15-13, 11-4 to book his Olympics ticket.


Kazakhstan’s Anastassiya Lavrova overcame Uzbekistan’s Markhabo Magdieva, seeded sixth, 11-8, 13-11, 11-13, 10-12, 11-8, 11-9 in the women's final.


India's second seeded Sharath Achanta Kamal and Manika Batra secured Tokyo Olympics berth after the duo fought back to beat South Korea's Lee Sangsu and Jeon Jihee in the Mixed Doubles final.


The Indians won 8-11, 6-11, 11-5, 11-6, 13-11, 11-8.
