Qatar Club wins HH The Emir's Table Tennis Cup for the fifth time in a row

QATAR TABLE TENNIS ASSOCIATION

Qatar Club crowned the title of His Highness the Amir Table Tennis Cup for the 2021-2022 sports season, after defeating Al-Sadd 3-1 in the final match that brought them together this evening at Abdullah Bin Suhaim Hall at Qatar Sports Club.

Al Rayyan also won the third place after defeating Al Arabi (3-1) in the third and fourth place ranking match.

Khalil Al Mohannadi, President of the Qatar Table Tennis Association, President of the Asian and Arab Federations, and First Vice-President of the International Tennis Federation, crowned Qatar Club with the title, Al Sadd Club with second place medals, and Al Rayyan Club with third place medals.

With this coronation, Qatar club won the double today after winning the league title for the current season.

Qatar SC qualified for the final match after defeating Al Rayyan (3-1) in the semi-finals, while Al Sadd SC reached the final after defeating Al Arabi (3-2) in the same round.

Qatar Club won the Emir's Cup for the fifth time in a row and the sixth in its history, after winning the title in the 2001-2002, 2017-2018, 2018-2019, 2019-2020, and 2020-2021 seasons. A long absence as he won the championship 4 times, the last of which was in the 2014-2015 season.

In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Khalil Al-Mohannadi expressed his happiness with the final match of His Highness the Amir's Table Tennis Cup, congratulating Qatar Club after winning the title.

Al-Mohannadi said: "The Qatar and Al-Sadd teams presented good levels in the tournament, and the final was global, as the players of Qatar Club presented a very high level today, especially the Qatari players, most notably Ahmed Khalil Al-Mohannadi and Muhammad Muthanna.

He added: "In the last three years, Qatar Club achieved the title of the Arab Championship, and was runner-up for two years. It always competes for titles. It is considered one of the best teams not in Qatar, but one of the best Arab teams. Qatar and Al Sadd in the Arab Championship that will be held next November in Tunisia.” Noting that the Emir’s Cup championship witnessed strong competition from all teams.

He continued: "This season, the table tennis activity was distinguished locally and internationally, and everyone knows that we organized international tournaments for 40 days, and it was a great work. Prince and witnessed great levels, especially among the four teams that reached the semi-finals.

The President of the Qatar Table Tennis Association and the President of the Asian and Arab Federations, the First Vice-President of the International Federation of the Game, indicated that the Emir Cup was at the end of the season, and the players will undergo a period of rest during the coming period, and immediately after Eid Al-Fitr, there will be an internal camp for the players in preparation for participating in the Games The Gulf National Team will be held next month in Kuwait, hoping that the team will win the title of this tournament.

In turn, Mr. Mohammed Abdullah Saleh, Secretary-General of the Qatar Table Tennis Association, congratulated Qatar Club on winning the Emir's Cup.

The Secretary-General of the Federation said in a similar statement: "The final match was strong between Al Sadd and Qatar, and was enjoyed by table tennis lovers. The participation of Qatar Club players in the international tournaments hosted by Doha last month was the best preparation for the Emir's Cup. The competition in the group stage is also The semi-finals were strong and contributed to the rise of Qatar Al-Sadd club to the final, and we wish better luck to the rest of the teams in the remaining participations.”

For his part, Ali Sultan Al-Muftah, Assistant Secretary of the Qatar Table Tennis Association, expressed his happiness with the great return provided by the two teams in the final match of the tournament.

And he indicated that the technical level of this version of the tournament was strong since its inception, as competition intensified between all clubs in the group stage, but the tournament system stipulates that the first and second places from each group qualify for the semi-finals. The semi-final is a final, especially between Al Sadd and Al Arabi, which was strong and exciting and witnessed a great rivalry between the two teams that extended to five games, and Al Sadd managed to settle the result in its favour, with a score of 3-2.

In turn, Mr. Thani Al-Zaraa, director of the Qatari national teams and a member of the Board of Directors of the Federation, praised the strong response provided by the Qatar and Al-Sadd teams in the final match of the Emir's Cup Table Tennis Championship, congratulating Qatar Club management, players and fans for winning the championship title for the fifth consecutive time and the sixth in its history. Distinguished final.

Al-Zaraa said, in a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA): "Today's final match was special, and we saw a strong and good level of Qatari players and professionals, and Qatar Club deserved to win, and the Emir's Cup championship was a distinguished conclusion for the Table Tennis Federation after a continuous month of international tournaments, and we ended The sports season has the best occasion, which is the Emir’s Cup.”

For his part, Ahmed Khalil Al Mohannadi, player of Qatar Club, expressed his happiness for his team winning the HH the Emir's Cup for Table Tennis for the fifth time in a row and the sixth in its history.

In a similar statement, the player said: "Today's match was strong and exciting, and (the derby) befitting the value of the two teams. Al Sadd was a fierce and difficult competitor, and aspired to win titles, and we were the best and the best, and we succeeded in winning the title."

He added, "Today, we achieved the important thing after great fatigue and effort, and we succeeded in achieving the victory, and this is thanks to the support of the head of the apparatus, Khaled Al-Kuwari, and the entire staff of coaches, technical and administrative staff, where we achieved the title of the role."

On the other hand, the Qatar Table Tennis Association signed a sponsorship agreement with the Beach Beach Group. The agreement was signed by Mr. Khalil Al-Mohannadi, President of the Qatar Federation, and Mr. Saqr Saeed Al-Mohannadi, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Seashore Group.
